Classic: Street Fighter vs. Mega Man

Back in 2012, Capcom released a free PC game created by an indie developer from Singapore, which combined elements of Street Fighter and Mega Man, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of these franchises. The game can still be downloaded for free at the website https://megaman.capcom.com/sfxmm/. It comes with a Windows installer and instructions in various languages.

 

The actual game is quite good, resembling the traditional Mega Man series. Instead of a robot master, a character from Street Fighter awaits you at the end of a level. I barely managed to finish Chun Li's level and reached the endboss fight with the Chinese lady, who however beat me.

What is a pity is that the developer didn't use the usual keys as used e.g. in the Fusion emulator. Instead, you have to move using WASD and jump or shoot with L or K respectively. It's a bit of a strange feeling that you are controlling the character with the left hand on a PC keyboard.

If you hit a bomb you lose. The objective is to clear the screen. Chessman

Last year Kim Hollesen released his game Chessman. As the name suggests it is a mix of chess and Pac Man. You control characters that also appear in chess and behave in the same manner. In each step you have to eat a pill and in addition, you must ensure that either the character you moved is threatened or that it threatens another character. A level is usually completed when you manage to capture the king of the enemy party.   Chessman requires quite a lot of brainpower. Sonic Galactic

In July 2024 I reported about a Sonic fangame called Sonic 2 HD. Now there is also another project, Sonic Galactic. The second demo is now available for download. The gameplay is exactly as in the original Sonic games. The bonus stages are in 3D and different from the Mega Drive games.
