Miracle Boy In Dragon Land

After four years of development, SamSoft has recently released Miracle Boy In Dragon Land, a platform game similar to Wonder Boy in Monster World for the Sega Mega Drive. The game can be obtained from https://samsoft.itch.io/miracle-boy-in-dragon-land for EUR 15 and is actually for Atari computers, but there is also a version for Windows employing an Atari emulator.

 

The game combines traditional platform gameplay with adventure/role-playing elements. You can equip various items such as swords. There are 25 levels in total.

For anybody who loved Wonder Boy in Monster World, I strongly recommend this game. It features a very clever level design and won't get boring.

By the way, in August 2026 the game Aggelos 2 will be released for PC and Switch among others. It has a similar gameplay and also very good graphics.

This year's Evoke party has brought us several new games, including a 4k remake of Minesweeper. You probably know Minesweeper, it is all about finding blocks on the screen where no bomb is placed. If you hit a bomb you lose. The objective is to clear the screen. This implementation is for Windows and the executable is only 4096 bytes, although it contains good music (even if it is very simple) and decent graphics. A true masterpiece!

Chessman

Last year Kim Hollesen released his game Chessman. As the name suggests it is a mix of chess and Pac Man. You control characters that also appear in chess and behave in the same manner. In each step you have to eat a pill and in addition, you must ensure that either the character you moved is threatened or that it threatens another character. A level is usually completed when you manage to capture the king of the enemy party.   Chessman requires quite a lot of brainpower. Sonic Galactic

In July 2024 I reported about a Sonic fangame called Sonic 2 HD. Now there is also another project, Sonic Galactic. The second demo is now available for download. The gameplay is exactly as in the original Sonic games. The bonus stages are in 3D and different from the Mega Drive games.
